Our Services
Precision Testing for Lung Health
We provide a full suite of diagnostic physiological tests to assist in the diagnosis, staging, and management of respiratory conditions. Our laboratory utilizes state-of-the-art equipment to ensure compliance with the latest ATS/ERS (American Thoracic Society / European Respiratory Society) standards.

Spirometry (Pre & Post Bronchodilator)
What it is: The primary test for assessing airflow obstruction. Clinical Use: Essential for diagnosing Asthma and COPD. We measure FEV1, FVC, and the FEV1/FVC ratio before and after medication to assess reversibility.

Diffusing Capacity (DLCO)
What it is: A test to measure how well the lungs transfer gas (oxygen) into the blood. Clinical Use: Critical for evaluating Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), Emphysema, and Pulmonary Hypertension.

Lung Volumes (Plethysmography)
What it is: A more detailed measurement of total lung capacity, including the air left in the lungs after a full exhale. Clinical Use: Used to differentiate between obstructive and restrictive lung patterns.

Bronchial Provocation (Mannitol Challenge)
What it is: A specialized test to identify airway hyper-responsiveness.
Clinical Use: Typically used to confirm an Asthma diagnosis when standard spirometry results are inconclusive.

Oximetry (Rest & Exercise)
What it is: Monitoring blood oxygen saturation levels at rest and during exertion (6-minute walk test). Clinical Use: Assessment for home oxygen requirements and exercise-induced desaturation.

MIPS & MEPS (Respiratory Muscle Strength)
What it is: Measures the maximal pressures generated during inspiration and expiration. Clinical Use: Indicated for patients with suspected neuromuscular disorders affecting breathing.
Clinical Excellence & Accreditation
Every test performed at Lung Function at Holmesglen & Peninsula undergoes a multi-stage quality check. Our scientists ensure the technical validity of the maneuvers, while our Consultant Physicians provide the formal clinical interpretation. This dual-verification process ensures the highest level of diagnostic accuracy for your patients.
