Affordable Respiratory Diagnostics
At Lung Function Laboratories, we believe that financial status should never be a barrier to essential healthcare. We are a Bulk Billing practice for all Medicare-eligible respiratory function tests. This ensures that our patients can access high-quality diagnostic data with no out-of-pocket expenses for standard procedures.
- Standard Lung Function Tests: $0 (Bulk Billed)
(Includes Spirometry, Gas Diffusion/DLCO, and Lung Volumes)
- Bronchial Provocation (Mannitol) Challenge: $100 Out-of-Pocket Fee
Please note: While the clinical service is bulk-billed, the $100 fee covers the specialized, single-use testing kit required for this procedure. This fee is non-refundable and not covered by Medicare.
- DVA Patients: $0 (Fully Covered)
We fully support DVA Gold and White card holders for all eligible respiratory services.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral to be Bulk Billed?
Yes. To receive a bulk-billed service under Medicare, you must provide a valid referral from your GP or Specialist at the time of your appointment.
What if I don't have a Medicare Card?
Patients without a Medicare card (such as international visitors) will be provided with a private invoice. You may be able to claim a portion of this back through your private health insurance or travel insurance.
Do you charge a "Gap" fee for standard tests?
No. For all standard respiratory maneuvers, we bill Medicare directly. The only exception is the specialized kit fee for Mannitol testing.
Are there any hidden costs?
We pride ourselves on transparency. Outside of the Mannitol kit fee (if applicable), there are no hidden facility fees or administrative charges for our diagnostic services.
Payment Methods
For the Mannitol Challenge fee, we accept EFTPOS, Visa, and Mastercard at both our Holmesglen and Peninsula locations. Please note that we are a cashless practice to ensure the safety of our staff and patients.
